Silkwebs are pleased to announce that in conjunction with The Pitman Training School in Crawley, West Sussex, they are offering low-cost professional website development, programming and database training courses from September 2007. These courses will be held at the Pitman Training Centre, which is adjacent to Crawley Railway Station. The courses are aimed at individuals or employees who wish to enhance their website development skills technically but have no previous programming or database experience.

The courses will be supported by a schedule of half-day workshops, each designed to specifically address a common business need.

With every one of these courses you receive the following:
- A Pitman Training Certificate
- A course workbook for you to keep
- A unique online control panel to test and develop your programs (PHP/MySQL courses only)
- A 3-month fully operational hosting account to use after the course
- 3 months additional support after your course through our unique support forum

Introduction to Website Design and HTML Coding
This course is specifically designed to satisfy the pre-requisites of the PHP and MySQL courses below. People who already have knowledge of website design, using any development tool, and a basic knowledge of html and how it is formed may not require this course.

In this course you will learn the basics of constructing and publishing a website. You will also learn the basics of html tags, how they are constructed, what they do and the use of cascading style sheet (CSS).

Duration: 4 hours

Requirements:
Basic knowlege of installing and running programs on a PC.

Introduction to the PHP Programming Language
PHP is rapidly becoming one of the most popular website programming languages around. A direct parallel to Microsoft's ASP environment it is both intuitive enough to be an individuals first programming language and powerful enough to develop virtually any website application. It has been our language of choice for over 3 years now and we are happy to offer others the opportunity to learn it. Some basic JavaScript will also be taught in this course.

- Fundamentals of client/server website architecture
- Fundamentals of the PHP programming language
- How to build interactive programming code into your websites
- Basic programming skills, loops, conditional code, reading/writing of files
- How to program, validate and verify form input
- How to send emails online from your website
Requirements:
You will need to have experience in developing and uploading websites, including a basic knowledge of html structures.

Introduction to the MySQL Database Environment
MySQL has already established itself as the favoured website database available for small/medium-sized applications. It is by far the most natural database partner for PHP.

What you will learn:
- Fundamentals of database design and normalisation
- How to set-up and manage a MySQL database
- How to integrate MySQL database requests within PHP code
- How to read, write, amend and delete MySQL data from within PHP code

- Rename html pages to php without losing rankings
- Generate and tune Titles, Descriptions and Keywords interactively from your database
- Develop a search-engine strategy specific to your own websites
